sportsgirl - 9/1/12

some current favourites from sportsgirl... they're without a doubt one of my favourite aussie brands, and i'm practically dressed as a sportsgirl spokesperson most of the time. they have the most beautiful & comfortable soft knits, i live in them throughout winter and they're just as perfect to throw on over a singlet or dress when the southerly picks up during summer evenings. when it comes to jackets, they have the BEST blazers (they're structured and flowy all at the same time) and some incredible fur pieces to glam up a winter day. just to complete the outfit, you can also count on them for the perfect skirts & pants to dress up and down, from sparkly sequins to slouchy silk.  i'm positive that for the last 2 years the only bags i've used every day are from SG, and i'm particularly keen on this beautiful black one with gold detailing. the jade green one is also pretty cute for an everyday bag - i feel like it would be a nice subtle colour addition to any outfit and could easily go from day to night. it's one of the things i love most about sportsgirl - it's so, so, SO easy to transition their pieces from day to night.
when it comes to the shoes... i wore a pair of their gladiators last summer until they literally fell apart. i wish i was kidding because i miss them so badly, but they were unsalvageable. SG do incredibly comfortable flats, and the uniqueness of the tangerine snake skin ballerina's definitely caught my eye.

on a completely different note, i've been saving up big for my upcoming hawaii trip, but i also spent a little bit of money at work (yay staff discount!) on some very cute bikini's. i promise they will feature in the next post...

2012!

man oh man what a crazy way to end the year! i've been working ridiculous hours in my retail job leading up to christmas, and as most of you know i was interning for fuzzy, the incredible company that put together some of australia's most iconic music festivals, and therefore bringing in the new year was insanely hectic as i worked with the team on shore thing and field day! i was on site at 10am on nye, worked through till 3am and got about 4 hours sleep before i had to be up again and on site at field day to work until 11.30pm! but it was so much fun, and field day has and always will be my favourite festival, with new years day being no disappointment. fair to say i was a bit of a mess yesterday (i've never felt so groggy and horrible), however i'm feeling reasonably normal today and this beautiful sydney weather is definitely helping.on another note, i got absolutely spoilt rotten for my 21st birthday and christmas, and i'll be sure to post some photos of my pressies later on.
hope everyone had a wonderful christmas and new year celebrations!

friday fun

we heart it, they all hate us, l bingle twitter

i've been a bit off the planet lately! obviously working in retail is insane in the membrane at this time of the year, but just to add to the absolute madness is the following:
- my internships festivals occur over new years eve and new years day (i should be admitted to a mental institution)
- my boyfriend has acquired a bar job, meaning our rosters are far from friendly right now
- my birthday is next weekend, and i have some how ended up with two parties
- i need to do so much christmas shopping this year that it seems to be a bit of a joke
- i'm desperately trying to find some decent accommodation in hawaii which doesn't cost the earth

hence my lack of posting.
however, don't think i have been abandoning you. i've been coming up with some great ideas which i'm going to use to completely re-invent my dawn till dusk. including outfit posts! because everyone loves a good outfit post! so please forgive me & stay tuned.

label feature

 kristi rose

it's been awhile since i've done a feature on a label so i thought i'd share with you one of my favourite up and coming designers. her name is kristi rose and i was actually a few years below her at my old high school, but boy has she come a long way! her beautiful label has developed into something incredible, with some truly gorgeous pieces - it reminds me a little of lover the label with a very unique edgy feel. the collection itself is simplistic at heart, yet it just feels too special to be simple. it's glamorous and the luxury of the fabrics, the subtle sexiness of the occasional open back and the angelic draping (yes, i'm talking about those utterly beautiful palazzo pants) are all stand out features which make this collection difficult to ignore. i love the colour scheme too, it's wearable and personally, it suits me to a T - classic colours which are incredibly versatile. i'm buying the 'you'll have your looks' white dress (last two photos) on wednesday to wear at a friends 21st this weekend and the prospect of wearing it with my mushroom coloured tony biancos is too much to handle - so excited! also on my list: the mulberry jumpsuit, the white silk skirt, the tangerine draped dress and the white high-neck open back top. basically, everything. and best of all, she's opened an online store. get shopping!

sunday summary

we heart it / they all hate us

laying back on a sunday night trying to embrace and enjoy the little relaxation time that i've had this week. work has been cray-cray to say the least (so many shifts, and a VERY busy retail period), but in much more exciting news, i'm saving for a holiday! therefore plenty of work means plenty of money to spend on my tropical holiday. i'll be heading to hawaii (ecstatic beyond belief) and i have been once before with my family, but this will be quite a different trip with friends. if anyone has any recommendations on where to go/stay/eat etc, i'd love to hear about it!
