oops, did it again.

man oh man i am sorry for neglecting this little blog of mine again! uni has been kicking my butt - i have 2 weeks left until my major project is due and it's stressful to say the least. but i've also had some awesome stuff going on! i finally got my new opi nail polishes in the mail and i can't even begin to explain how much i adore both... and i haven't even put them on yet. the opalescent one is like nothing i have ever seen before, and the black shatter speaks for itself. i'm having a little girls night with my aunt tonight, watching the royal wedding (only for the dress, i swear) so i'm thinking i might take it along and give myself a mini manicure. i'll post a picture this weekend.
in other awesome news; i got a new macbook pro! upgraded from my cute little white macbook to the pro and i'm loving it. getting a new laptop is like a fresh start, i can't believe how much junk i keep lying around to fill up my hard drive.
last but not least, i've finally budgeted enough to allow me to purchase my lusted tony bianco ballara booties in one weeks time. expect to hear from them a lot - they'll be a heavy presence in my winter wardrobe!
anyway that's what's been going on in my life, and my horrible excuses for not posting anything recently. can't wait until my final project is over - i'll have the next 10 months off with some exciting ventures up my sleeve. so i apologise in advance for my lack of posts over the next 2 weeks, but i can guarantee some new and different stuff coming up after the deadline! x

Sportsgirl Winter Wardrobe Comp!

A little while ago, I posted about the little flower bombs I used to create when I was young. I remembered them the other day, and made a whole bunch, and so now I thought I'd show you how to create them!

They're so beautiful, and such a simple way to decorate a space and make it your own.

What you need:
- Tissue paper - 8 sheets p/flower bomb, roughly 32cm x 40cm
- Stapler
- Scissors
- String or fishing line; about 2m

1. Lay your 8 sheets of tissue paper stacked on top of each other. If you want them to be multicoloured, intersperse the colours between layers.

2. Fold the paper accordion style, with each section approximately 3 - 4cm. Lay your string on the middle of the paper, and staple the string to the middle. This also connects the papers together. Also, cut the edges of the paper into a curve.

 3. Fan out one side of the accordian pages, and carefully begin to separate the sheets of tissue. Pull 4 sheets down to one side, and 4 down to the other.

 4. Once complete, turn over and do the same on the other side.

 5. Fluff out your flower bomb! Don't be afraid to throw it around a bit, it will make it look lovely and full, removing any obvious edges.

They look gorgeous anywhere - hanging from the roof or a lamp, or scattered around the place at a party. Use your imagination! x

horses & high fashion.

there is something so exciting and different about going to the races. i headed off to the emirates doncaster day last saturday, with some members tickets thanks to my lovely family, and it was such a fantastic day despite the miserable weather sydney has been enduring lately. the regality and high culture feel in the air always makes a girl feel special - watching the horses, sipping champagne whilst acting oh so ladylike and strutting around like you're the queen of the world. it's a genuine escape from the real world and i loved every second of it!

(and i'm aware of the quality of this - was rushing out the door and thought i'd get a macbook photo!)

opals and shatters.

i know i'm late to jump on the bandwagon, but i finally decided to buy the OPI black shatter nail polish from the Katy Perry collection. i've been umming and ahhing for so, so long, and it's been long gone from david jones stores.. but today i thought i'd check it out - come forth ebay. the prices are actually reasonable and there was another colour i really wanted - 'not like the movies' - which came in a package with black shatter. $14.95 for the two and i'm so excited! will post a picture of the colours when i get them in the mail, but for now, i'll leave you with the two shades :)

outfit lust.

the latest outfit lust.
i did one earlier with my topshop order - WHICH FINALLY CAME! YAY! but i thought it was about time for a new one. i could do this all day. someone tell me how to make money out of finding pretty clothing, putting the pictures together to create an outfit and posting it on the internet. i think i just defined a digital stylist.
anyway, thought i'd stick with my previous theme and make the outfit from one brand.. so this is the sportsgirl entry. speaking of which, i am going to enter a sportsgirl blog competition and am so excited! it has the potential to win me a $500 wardrobe.. with the fashion direction sportsgirl has been going lately, the prospect of a $500 voucher is driving me a little insane.

the hitlist.

i've decided to stop myself from impulse purchasing. yeah don't worry, i've heard that one a million times before too. however, the one thing i like more than impulse purchasing is lists. therefore, i thought hey, why not combine the two problems? so i sat down and wrote a hit list of the most important clothing items that i'm going to need to get me through the transitional season from our beautiful sydney summer into the blustery, autumn/winter chill.
here goes nothing:

1. khaki anorak.
2. chunky knits - blush & cream.
3. chunky black scarf.
4. felt hat - cream or black.
(i neeed a felt hat. now.)
5. sheer printed oversized shirt.
6. printed maxi skirt.
7. black cotton maxi skirt.
8. floral print, dress.
9. statement leggings.
10. tony bianco black suede booties.

bring it on, winter. i want all my beautiful statement pieces, and preferably asap.

winter warmers.

i was on the sportsgirl website, browsing as i do (everyday, yes, welcome to my pathetic world of fashion obsession) and adding my favourite pieces to my shopping bag section. when i finally finished my drooling, i looked at the favourites i'd chosen.

is it just me, or is there a serious colour trend here? khaki, neutrals, interjected with floral & tribal patterns and the occasional pop of blush & rose tones.

i think i've found my colour scheme for this autumn/winter season. i love stumbling across realisations, where i come to the conclusion i actually know more about my wants, needs and preferences than i originally thought. really need to start digging deep when it comes to my fashion choices.. apparently it's all inside. and when you think about it, it's true. every now and then you find that piece of clothing, or accessory, which you can't even imagine living without. it goes with everything, and will go everything you plan to buy (oops) and is a complete staple. you'll only look good in what you're wearing if you love it, so follow that little voice in your head because it'll be the one to tell you whether you really want it or not.

blog endorsement.

i have a dear friend from high school who writes the most impeccable, beautiful blog. she has such a fantastic flair for writing, it's breathtaking.
alongside this; her vocabulary and personal style creates such a connection between blog and reader that it verges on the edge of romance.

so i thought i would give her a little recommendation on my blog. which is more ironic than i can even attempt to explain, considering her blog is incredibly established and she has more than a handful of followers, whilst mine on the other hand is still in the beginning stages, whilst i find my flow and get a grip on the blogosphere.

anyway, visit her blog capture the castle to understand what i'm on about - it's perfect to browse through with a cup of tea on a lazy afternoon.
